Das Statistische Jahrbuch für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland ist das umfassendste
statistische Nachschlagewerk auf dem deutschen Markt. Es bietet
einen vollständigen Überblick über das Datenangebot der amtlichen Statistik
und informiert zuverlässig über die Verhältnisse in Deutschland. Dieser »statistische
Bericht zur Lage der Nation« ist der »Klassiker« unter den Publikationen
des Statistischen Bundesamtes. Er erscheint seit nunmehr 59 Jahren.

The Statistical Yearbook for the Federal Republic of Germany is the most
comprehensive statistical reference book on the German market. It provides
both an overview of the complete range of official statistical data and reliable
information on the conditions prevailing in Germany. This »statistical report
on the state of the nation« is the »classic« publication of the Federal
Statistical Office, which has been issued for 59 years now.

Neuerungen in der Ausgabe 2010
Jede fünfte Person in Deutschland hat einen Migrationshintergrund. Informationen
über die Migrationsmotive neu zugewanderter Personen enthält
eine zusätzliche Tabelle im Kapitel »Bevölkerung«.
Menschen, die ihren laufenden Lebensunterhalt nicht eigenständig sichern
können, zahlt der Staat finanzielle Hilfen. Dies geschieht in Form von
Arbeitslosengeld II, Sozialgeld, Sozialhilfe, Leistungen für Asylbewerber und
Kriegsopfer. Der Anteil der Personen, die diese Transferleistungen
empfangen, an der Gesamtbevölkerung nennt sich Mindestsicherungsquote.
Diese Quote ist erstmals im Kapitel »Sozialleistungen« untergliedert nach
Bundsländern dargestellt. Der Themenkomplex Kinder- und Jugendhilfe
präsentiert zusätzlich Daten zur Jugendarbeit.
Das Kapitel »Gesundheitswesen« ist ergänzt um Angaben zu Kranken und
Verletzten bei Unfällen sowie deren Behandlung. Neu enthalten sind ferner
Informationen über die Rauchgewohnheiten der Bevölkerung, die Körpergröße,
das Körpergewicht und den Body-Mass-Index. Letzterer wird herangezogen,
um festzustellen, ob eine Person Übergewicht, Untergewicht oder
Normalgewicht hat.
Eine neue Grafik im Kapitel »Verkehr« zeigt, wie sich die Zahl der im
Straßenverkehr Getöteten nach Einführung verschiedener verkehrspolitischer
Maßnahmen entwickelt hat, z. B. der Gurtanlege- und Helmtragepflicht oder
der 0,5-Promillegrenze.
Das Kapitel »Finanz- und andere Dienstleistungen« stellt erstmals Angaben
zu Pensionskassen und Pensionsfonds dar. Daten zur Kostenstruktur von
Arztpraxen und sonstigen Einrichtungen des Gesundheitswesens, wie z. B.
Praxen von Hebammen, Heilpraktikern und Krankengymnasten, ergänzen das
Kapitel »Unternehmen«.
Neu im Kapitel »Verdienste und Arbeitskosten« sind Informationen zur
Entwicklung der tariflichen Monats- und Stundenverdienste im
Produzierenden Gewerbe und im Dienstleistungsbereich. Eine zusätzliche
Übersicht stellt die Laufzeiten, Pauschal- und Sonderzahlungen ausgewählter
Tarifabschlüsse dar.
Im Europäischen Jahr 2010 zur Bekämpfung von Armut und sozialer
Ausgrenzung enthält das Kapitel »Wirtschaftsrechnungen privater
Haushalte« erstmals Daten zur Armutsgefährdung nach Bundesländern.
Erweitert ist das Kapitel zudem um Informationen zum Haus- und Grundbesitz
privater Haushalte.
Das Kapitel »Volkswirtschaftliche Gesamtrechnungen« enthält eine neue
Tabelle zum Alter des Bruttoanlagevermögens.
What is new in the 2010 edition
Every fifth person in Germany has a migration background. Information on
the migration motives of newly immigrated persons is provided by an
additional table in the chapter »Population«.
The state grants financial support to people who are not able to secure their
own continuous livelihood. This is done in the form of unemployment benefit
II, social allowance, public assistance, benefits for asylum-seekers and war
victims. The share of persons receiving such transfer payments in the total
population is referred to as the minimum social security rate. That rate is
presented for the first time in the chapter »Social security schemes«, in a
breakdown by Länder. In addition data on youth work are provided under the
range of topics on children’s and youth welfare services.
The chapter »Health« now also includes data on sick persons and persons
injured in accidents as well as their treatment. Other new information refers
to the smoking habits of the population, body height, weight and body mass
index. The latter is used to determine whether a specific person is
overweight, underweight or normal weight.
A new chart in the chapter »Transport« shows how the number of persons
killed in road traffic has developed after the introduction of various transport
policy measures, e.g. the obligation to wear seat belts or helmets and the 0.5
per mill legal blood alcohol limit.
The chapter »Financial and other services« for the first time presents data on
pension funds. Data on the cost structure of medical practices and other
health sector institutions such as practices of midwives, non-medical
practitioners and physiotherapists have been added to the chapter
»Enterprises«.
New information included in the chapter »Earnings and labour costs« refers
to the development of agreed monthly and hourly earnings in industry and
the service sector. An additional table shows the duration, flat-rate payments
and extra payments of selected collective agreements.
In the European Year 2010 for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, the
chapter »Household budget surveys« for the first time contains data on the
risk of poverty by Länder. Also, information on real property of households
has been added in that chapter.
The chapter »National accounts« contains a new table on the age of gross
fixed assets.
