Liebe Leserinnen, liebe Leser,<br />
ich möchte heute mal eine Lanze fürs Auto<br />
brechen. Langsam habe ich den Eindruck,<br />
dass Autofahrer <strong>–</strong> insbesondere SUV-Fahrer<br />
<strong>–</strong> immer öfter an den Pranger gestellt<br />
werden. Und in aggressiven, moralinsauren<br />
Tönen hängen manchmal sogar Zettel<br />
an den Windschutzscheiben, auf denen es<br />
heißt: »Schämt ihr Euch nicht?« Das geht zu<br />
weit! Man kann doch nicht von heute auf<br />
morgen die automobile Welt auf den Kopf<br />
stellen! Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass<br />
ich irgendwann im hohen Alter mit dem<br />
Fahrrad und Jutetaschen rechts und links<br />
am Lenker zum Einkaufen fahre. Ich finde,<br />
wir müssen für alle die notwendige Mobilität<br />
erhalten. Und das natürlich so klimaneutral<br />
wie möglich. Aber die Autoindustrie ist<br />
wichtig für Deutschland. Wir dürfen den<br />
Ast, auf dem wir sitzen, nicht absägen.<br />
Dear Readers,<br />
I’d like to strike a blow for the car today. I<br />
get the impression that car drivers <strong>–</strong> especially<br />
SUV drivers <strong>–</strong> are being pilloried more<br />
and more. There are sometimes even notes in<br />
aggressive, morally sour tones on the windscreens<br />
saying: »Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves«.<br />
That goes too far! You can’t turn the<br />
automotive world upside down overnight! I<br />
can’t imagine that at a very old age I’ll be riding<br />
my bike with Jute Bags on the left and<br />
right side of the handlebar. I think we must all<br />
have the mobility we need. And of course as<br />
climate-neutral as possible. But the car industry<br />
is important for Germany. We must not<br />
saw off the branch we are sitting on.<br />
