out of their situation. Cast: Vilma Cibulková and Miroslav Etzler
1:00a.m., William Shakespeare HAMLET – West Bohemian Theatre Cheb
– school performance. Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. Tense individuality,
ruthless lust for power and existential doubts are characteristic not only
for the late Renaissance, but maybe even more so for the present. Hamlet
is a famous story about revenge, suspiciousness, distrust and destructive
hesitation.
3:00 p.m., Renata Nechutová ABOUT THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE
– Minaret Theatre Prague (Divadlo Minaret Praha). This staging of Minaret
Theatre, destined for parents with children, is an adaptation of the folk fairy
tale about Hansel and Gretel, and especially about the sweet and dangerous
gingerbread house. The comic exaggeration of the presentation of the
story of Hansel and Gretel also carries a moralising message – those who are
naughty can get lost and those who get lost can get into some big trouble…
7:30 p.m., Bernard Slade: SAME TIME, NEXT YEARS – The Theatre without
a Railing (Divadlo Bez zábradlí). This play is a loose continuation of the
successful, ingenious sex comedy “Same Time, Next Year”. “This loose con-
tinuation of „Same Time, Next Years“ is not a pale reflection of the drama “Same
Time, Next Year” Mr. Slade waited 20 years since the first drama, lowly collecting
priceless moments. It seems to me that some moments are deeper and funnier.
Doris and George are even older, yet it still works for them - and that is why it is
so nice. A wise and kind masterpiece not only about aging, as the characters are
very active, even though death is also mentioned” says Jiří Menzel. Directed
by: Jiří Menzel
9:00 and 10:30, Jaroslav Uhlíř SINGING LESSON IN THE MENAGERIE – A
gramme “Singing Lesson”. All can sing along with the author and his piano
accompaniment. Performed by: Jaroslav Uhlíř / school performance
7:30 p.m.,, Franz Wittenbrink: CZECH SECRETARIES – Premiere. The
Theatre without a Railing (Divadlo Bez zábradlí). A group of secretaries
escape from the boredom of a working day to the kingdom of illusions and
memories, as they reflect their suppressed longings and dreams to their
only male team member. This funny look at the foolishness and the whims
of the female soul is expressed especially by song and dance numbers. Well
known “hits” are sang in the personal renditions of the actresses with the
instrumental interpretation of Martin Kumžák and Miroslav Kořínek.
7:30 p.m., GALA CONCERT OF OPERA MELODIES AND EVERGREENS
then it has been a raving success.
current colonnade, located beneath the former Municipal Spas, today used, for instance, for
the creation of “stoned” souvenirs. It is also the place where part of the regulation drills are
located, as the so-called “watch-dogs” of the Hot-Spring.
designs of the church. The Garden of Gethsemane, Golgotha, the charnel house, the Altar of
God’s Grave and a geology exhibition devoted to the spring stone.
