NORDKETTE<br />
THE GEM OF INNSBRUCK<br />
There probably is no other place than <strong>Innsbruck</strong><br />
where an urban area is so close to the rugged<br />
world of the mountains. Within only twenty minutes,<br />
the new <strong>Innsbruck</strong> Nordkette cable cars<br />
take visitors right from the city centre to high alpine<br />
terrain.<br />
First, the Hungerburg funicular takes visitors up<br />
to Hungerburg plateau which is located 300 metres<br />
above <strong>Innsbruck</strong> and opens up a completely<br />
new view on the Tyrol‘s capital.<br />
Then the journey up continues with the Seegrube<br />
cable car which arrives at Seegrube mountain<br />
resort at 1905 metres within very short time.<br />
From there, the view extends all over the Middle<br />
Inn Valley, the Stubai and Zillertal Alps and across<br />
Wipp Valley to the Italian border.<br />
Finally, the highest view point on Hafelekar peak<br />
at 2256 metres is reached by the Hafelekar cable<br />
car. From there, the sharp contrast between the<br />
densely populated Inn Valley to the one side<br />
and the unsettled wilderness of Karwendel Alpine<br />
Park to the other side is particularly striking.<br />
