BIA st<strong>and</strong> for (<strong>Burundi</strong> <strong>in</strong> Action) which is a young <strong>and</strong> dynamic association created by<br />

<strong>Burundi</strong>an professionals liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Netherl<strong>and</strong>s<br />

Its mission is to f<strong>in</strong>d <strong>and</strong> plan strategic key action through which <strong>Burundi</strong>an<br />

professionals <strong>in</strong> the Netherl<strong>and</strong>s can develop their undercapitalised wealth of knowledge<br />

<strong>and</strong> experience between <strong>Burundi</strong>an Diaspora. It aims to mobilized <strong>and</strong> br<strong>in</strong>g together<br />

<strong>Burundi</strong>an professional liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Netherl<strong>and</strong>s dur<strong>in</strong>g a sem<strong>in</strong>ar of two day to discuss<br />

<strong>and</strong> meet each other.<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objectives are<br />

-Engage professional <strong>Burundi</strong>an <strong>in</strong> the Netherl<strong>and</strong>s as strategic agents for development<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>Burundi</strong>.<br />

-Create a database of highly skill <strong>Burundi</strong>an professional among <strong>Burundi</strong>an diaspora.<br />

-Explore new ways through which we can work with Dutch <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />

organisation to develop the country.<br />

-Enhance network build<strong>in</strong>g to promote <strong>and</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g our untapped potentials.<br />

-Establish a new dialogue between <strong>Burundi</strong>an professional <strong>and</strong> Dutch <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />

organisation.<br />

-Harness diaspora potential <strong>and</strong> aim<strong>in</strong>g their expertise from their professional<br />

background to bra<strong>in</strong>storm new <strong>and</strong> creative idea to impact our community.<br />

IZERE is non-profit organization without any political or commercial goals.<br />

Goals<br />

- To provide a meet<strong>in</strong>g po<strong>in</strong>t for <strong>Burundi</strong>ans, <strong>and</strong> an opportunity for dialogue.<br />

- To make the voice of <strong>Burundi</strong>ans <strong>in</strong> <strong>Burundi</strong> heard, <strong>and</strong> talk about the problems<br />

the country faces.<br />

- To help <strong>Burundi</strong>ans that still face prosecution, torture, <strong>and</strong> poverty, by any<br />

means possible.<br />

“Culture is the best ambassador of <strong>Burundi</strong>” Culture has always played a crucial role <strong>in</strong><br />

the life on <strong>Burundi</strong>ans (religion, family life, child-rais<strong>in</strong>g practices, oral history, political<br />

<strong>in</strong>fluence of culture). Information provision was one of the ma<strong>in</strong> reasons to start IZERE.<br />

We want the audience to <strong>in</strong>form about the exact image of our country <strong>and</strong> the current<br />

<strong>Burundi</strong>an problems <strong>in</strong> general, by referr<strong>in</strong>g to the history of <strong>Burundi</strong>. Anyone can<br />

become a member, whether you are <strong>Burundi</strong>an or not, <strong>and</strong> regardless your political view<br />

or ethnicity.<br />
