egg to the end of metamorphosis". The Normal Table u-ill be published in book<br />
form by the North Holland Pubhshing Company. N.Z. Voorburgwal 6S— 70.<br />
Amsterdam. Netherlands. This work, which has been prepared by about<br />
tu'ents' scientists from nine different countries of three continents has been<br />
edited by P. D. Nieuwkoop. Ph.D. and J. Faber. M.Sc.<br />
After thorough consideration the editors have decided to give up the tabular<br />
form and to publish the work in ordinary* book form, dividing the text into<br />
an extensive s>'stematic and a more concise chronological description of the<br />
de\elopment.<br />
Persons interested in this work are requested to send their orders direct to<br />

The I. I.E. has :c announce with great recret the loss of one its founders<br />
and honorar>- members. Prof. Dr K. Peter, vrho died in March. 1955 and the<br />
loss of t\iO of its en^erltus members Prof. Dr Fr. Kopsch. who died in June,<br />
1955. and Prcf. Dr D. E. Holmdahl. vho died in Februar>-. 1956. The I.I.E.<br />
recently received nor.ce that its member. Prof. D. P. Filatow. died in 19n3.<br />
The I.I.E. has the pleasure to inform you that its ne.xt General Assembly will<br />
be held at Brown Univers:t\'. Providence. Rhode Island, U.S.A. from July 23<br />
to 31. 1956.<br />
The General Assembly of the I.I.E. has the following programme:<br />
a) July 23 to 26, International Congress on Developmental Biology<br />
b) July 26, business meeting of the I.I.E.<br />
c) July 27 to 31, Conference on Cyto-differentiation, sponsored by I.U.B.S.<br />
a) The International Congress on Developmental Biology will consist partly<br />
of symposia, partly of free papers. Since some kind of limitation of the free<br />
papers to be read will be unavoidable, the committee has suggested that every<br />
Fellow of the I.I.E. is entitled to announce tuo papers including his/her ov,^.<br />
b) According to its new statutes the I.I.E. will in future have an unlimited<br />
number of "ordinary members". Election to membership will be by simple<br />
majority of the General Assembly upon recommendation of two Fellows and<br />
approval by the Board (Art. 10 of the Statutes). Applications for membership<br />
are awaited bv the Secretarv. Prof. Dr Chr. P. Raven. Zoological Laboratory,<br />
Janskerkhof 3. Utrecht. Netherlands before May L 1956. Candidate members<br />
mav tender their applications personally; they are however advised to secure the<br />
recommendation of two Fellows of the I.I.E. A list of Fellows is added below,<br />
c) The Conference on Cyto-differentiation will be a symposium with a limited<br />
number of selected speakers, invited by the Organizing Comittee.<br />
