FLC Messages and Reports 2011 - Fellowship of the Least Coin

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
It is my pleasure and privilege to send you greetings
as Chairperson of ICFLC and representative of the World
Council of Churches’ Women in Church and Society
program. This year Christians all around the world will be celebrating the
400th anniversary of the King James Bible, the book which changed the
world. Since this English translated version of the Bible was ordered by the
Church of England, in Britain, where I live, churches will be holding special
services and events to mark the creation of this Bible read by people of all
ages, backgrounds and in all countries around the world since its completion
in 1611.
In celebrating the Bible, I am reminded of Psalm 119 v.105 which says:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” In today’s world
life for many people can be a daily challenge, particularly when we experience
hurt, disaster and disappointment. But the Fellowship of the Least Coin
teaches us about what the power of prayer can do in our lives. Through the
stories we heard of women and men who trusted in God’s word and kept their
faith in difficult situations, managing to overcome great difficulty in their lives
and community, we can be inspired in our own situation.
It does not seem too long ago that ICFLC held its annual meeting in Bogor,
Indonesia where we also shared in the Asian Church Women’s Conference
General Assembly. I was encouraged to see in a majority Muslim country,
struck by many natural disasters and political tension, an active Christian
community full of enthusiastic Christian women and men serving the church
and community.
Thank you for your support for FLC’s mission of prayer for peace, justice
and reconciliation. I pray that you will continue to hold onto God’s word and
be assured of His love for you so that you can be empowered to live the life
following Christ’s example.
