FLC Pacific Regional Committee Meeting 2010
On 22nd June 2010, the members of the FLC Pacific regional committee,
namely: Rev. Valamotu Palu, Mrs. Titilia Vakadewavosa, Dr. Namulauulu Potoi
and Dr. ‘Asinate Samate met at Nuku’alofa Hotel in Tongatapu. The meeting
coincided with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the ordination of
women ministers in the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga (FWCT) to which all
the committee members were invited to attend. But one was absent in the
meeting.
The following needs, issues and concerns were raised:
need to improve communication with the PCC Office in Suva, Fiji, and
to have more effective ways of money transactions for FLC expenses
and accessing funds from the block grant;
need to improve communication with women leaders in the rest of the
Pacific Region;
need to recruit more Pacific women leaders to serve in the FLC regional
committee;
to organize more promotion of FLC in the Pacific such as Ingathering
Service, dissemination of information, distribution of promotional
materials and collection of least coins for project funding.
FLC Ingathering Service 2010
Some of the ingathering services to promote FLC in the Pacific in 2010 were
organized to coincide with the International Day of Prayer for Peace organized
by WCC and by the United Nations. In Fiji, a special ceremony was held at
Davuilevu Theological College on September 21 to commemorate that event.
Some of the leaders of the church and government attended.
Also in Fiji, Mrs. Titilia Vakadewavosa, organized an FLC ingathering service
on September 24th at Nasese Methodist Church of Muanikau Circuit. Women
