5. Awareness Raising on Women’s Health, Nepal, $5,000
This project of Nepal Mahila Bishwasi Sangh (YWCA of Nepal) aims
to give an intensive 5 day- training for two groups of 20 women in
reproductive health, cervical and breast cancer awareness and uterine
prolapse prevention. One other day would be practical exposure visits
to a gynecological unit and to a hospice. This project is a response to a
finding that
a large number of the underprivileged population is unaware of primary
health care, reproductive health and need for health education. Cervix
and Breast Cancer are diseases that mostly affect women. However, they
do not have easy access to prevention and cure.
6. Marginal Women’s Assistance Program, Bangladesh, $5,000
This project, sponsored by the Women Department of NCCBangladesh,
aims to empower rural communities, especially women group, create and
strengthen livelihood, improve nutritional status and reduce the poverty
of landless, marginal and small rural households through boosting
agricultural production. Women have always actively participated in their
local economies. So the primary beneficiaries of the project are small and
marginal farmers (women) engaged in production of crop vegetable. They
will directly benefit from increased production, employment and income
generated through the project. The project will include: Motivation,
awareness and training of the beneficiary women; providing improved
seeds, fertilizers and insecticides; providing agricultural machineries,
livestock, animal feed and housing.
7. Darkhan Tailor Shop, Mongolia, $5,000
The Tailor Shop was established in 2008 with one tailor and one assistant
and has been operating since then. We have tailored animation characters’
costume, dolls, (king and queen dolls dressed in Mongolian traditional
costume), souvenir dolls, the church concert clothes, and etc.. The goal of
our tailor’s shop is to renew our technologies and techniques, to increase
labor productivity, to make the children’s ministry exemplary to others, to
improve our resource base, and to support our church financially. We are
aiming to make baby blanket as Mongolian brand product and to meet
the needs and requirements of the customers. Darkhan-Uul aimag has
population of 100,000 people and 1500-1600 babies are born annually.
We hope to bless these new born babies in God’s name and wrap them
