Aside from the usual content, it has an article on the “WCC Finance Team for FLC” written by Elaine Dykes. Making FLC women know who partner with us in FLC Fund is a way of appreciating the work that our WCC sisters do for FLC. We have also introduced in this issue the FLC Scholarship Award for Young Women. d. Circle of Prayer Vol. XIX was translated to Mandarin in 2010 with the help of sisters in Singapore facilitated by Rev. Rita Wong and in Taiwan facilitated by Shu-Wen Chiang and Rev. Hsing Ling Lee. It was distributed through internet. This is also translated into Japanese although not the full booklet, according to Kyoko Burger. For this issue we have printed 18,000 copies all done in the Philippines and distributed from our ICFLC office. The Circle of Prayer Vol. XX, on the theme “Pray and Act for Change” has 20 articles gathered from contributors from all the regions. The editing was work of love done by Joanne Instance and Fran Bartlett of Winnipeg WICC. e. Recipients of Fellowship of the Least Coin Scholarship Award for Young Women for 2010 are Ms. Karine Lawson of Togo and Ms. Jiko Uluvinaka Toroca of Fiji. f. FLC Project Grants –39 projects have successfully received grants with the help of the WCC Finance Team. One which goes to Dominican Republic is deferred in consultation with our partners in the region. A report form was prepared by the officers to be used starting 2011. g. Emergency Grants of US$2,000 each were sent to Chile, Pakistan, Indonesia and Haiti this year. Rev. Yamina Apolinaris gave update on the earthquake disasters in Chile and Haiti and enjoined us in prayer. Shu-Wen Chiang sent the update from Pakistan national representative to ACWC to which we have responded in prayer and grant sent to the Church of Pakistan Diocese of Peshawar, after communicating with the Rt. Rev. Humphrey S. Peter, Bishop of Peshawar. It was right after the 6
ICFLC Annual Meeting that disasters struck Sumatra. With our prayers the grant to Indonesia was sent to the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) To Haiti, the grant was facilitated by Pat Allinson through the Salvation Army. h. Promoting at the local level serves as a way of updating about FLC to new generation of leaders in the grass roots within Philippine area: - UCCP National Staff morning worship, (15 women and men) August 9, Manila - Church Women United Philippines’ workshop on “Strengthening the FLC”, (19 ecumenical women leaders attended) September 17-18, Tagaytay City, Philippines. - Joint National UCCP Church Women’s Assn. and United Church Men Quadrennial Convention, May 22, Dumaguete City, Philippines - FLC Ingathering services at the conference and district level of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and United Methodist Church III. Our Connection with WCC FLC partnership with WCC is dated back to the time of Madeline Barot, Executive Secretary, Department on Cooperation of Men and Women in Church, Family and Society of the WCC, played a very important role of keeping the list of the gifts received at Geneva, communicating with the East Asia Conference of Churches (now CCA), suggesting suitable projects to the working Committee of the EACC, and encouraging 7
