636. The supply branch is in charge <strong>of</strong> a lieutenant colonel, who is<br />
the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Railway</strong> Artillery Reserve. He is charged<br />
with supplying equipment to troops !Wd ammunition and spares for<br />
<strong>artillery</strong>. He requisitions for equipment, spares, and stock direct<br />
to the Chief <strong>of</strong> Ordnance <strong>of</strong> the Army if in the zone <strong>of</strong> the interior, or<br />
to the chief ordnance <strong>of</strong>ficer if in the theater <strong>of</strong> operations. He<br />
requisitions for equipment both regular and special in anticipation <strong>of</strong><br />
demands to be \Uade on his depot. He may requisition by telegraph<br />
when stores are urgently needed" for the equipment <strong>of</strong> any troops, or<br />
the replacement <strong>of</strong> lost equipment, or for instruction purposes.<br />
637. When an automatic supply <strong>of</strong> stores has been ordered in<br />
anticipation <strong>of</strong> the needs <strong>of</strong> the troops in the camp <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Railway</strong><br />
Artillery Reserve, the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer keeps in touch with the supply<br />
and requests its expedition when necessity arises.<br />
638. Supply <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> the various organizations located at the<br />
camp <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Railway</strong> Artillery Reserve requisition for items <strong>of</strong><br />
ordnance property needed by the troops <strong>of</strong> their units, these requisitions<br />
having the approval <strong>of</strong> the organization commanders. These<br />
requests will be sent directly to the railway ordnance <strong>of</strong>ficer.<br />
639. The supply <strong>of</strong>ficer has commissioned assistants in charge <strong>of</strong><br />
administrative, general supplies, <strong>artillery</strong> and <strong>artillery</strong> parts, and<br />
ammunition sections.<br />
640. The administrative assistant is charged with the account, and<br />
record work necessary in the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer.<br />
641. The <strong>of</strong>ficer in charge <strong>of</strong> the General Supply Section is charged<br />
with the receipt, storage, and issue <strong>of</strong> all ordnance stores except<br />
" .<strong>artillery</strong> and ammunition.<br />
642. The <strong>of</strong>ficer in charge <strong>of</strong> the Artillery and Artillery Parts Section<br />
is charged with the receipt, storage, and issue <strong>of</strong> all material<br />
classed as railway <strong>artillery</strong> and spare parts there<strong>of</strong>.<br />
643. The <strong>of</strong>ficer in charge <strong>of</strong> the Ammunition Section is charged<br />
with the receipt, storage, and issue <strong>of</strong> all ammunition, including the<br />
loading <strong>of</strong> the special ammunition cars.<br />
644. The assistants to the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer shall maintain such records<br />
as are necessary to keep the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer informed as to the stock<br />
on hand, the receipt, issue, and probable needs <strong>of</strong> general supplies,<br />
<strong>artillery</strong> and <strong>artillery</strong> spares, and ammunition. Similar blanks<br />
specified for the ammunition parks <strong>of</strong> the Army are to be used by the<br />
Ammunition Section.<br />
645. The <strong>artillery</strong> armament <strong>of</strong>ficer is responsible for the inspection,<br />
repair, and maintenance duties in so far as they pertain to <strong>artillery</strong><br />
and ammunition used by and in charge <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Railway</strong> Artillery<br />
