One complete set <strong>of</strong> drawing instruments, including<br />

Universal drawing instruments.<br />

Flexible curve.<br />

Complete set <strong>of</strong> Universal curves.<br />

650. The ammunition inspector is responsible for the inspection<br />

<strong>of</strong> all ammunition, storage and handling facilities, and will see that<br />

safety instructions are complied with. He will make periodic examinations<br />

<strong>of</strong> the condition <strong>of</strong> ammunition both by visual inspection<br />

in the storage house and by trial on the proving ground. He is<br />

responsible for the furnishing <strong>of</strong> all technical information on ammunition,<br />

both to the troops and to the <strong>artillery</strong> armament <strong>of</strong>ficer.<br />

He will investigate and report upon all accidents that may be chargeable<br />

to ammunition, and will keep the <strong>artillery</strong> armament <strong>of</strong>ficer<br />

informed as to the behavior <strong>of</strong> ammunition and any defects discovered.<br />

He is responsible for the calibration <strong>of</strong> all ammunition as<br />

called for by the commanding <strong>of</strong>ficer, <strong>Railway</strong> Artillery Reserve.<br />

He is respcmsible for the colleCtion, examination, and report on<br />

specimens <strong>of</strong> captured or unexploded enemy ammunition. He shall<br />

maintain such records as will be <strong>of</strong> maximum service to those organizations<br />

responsible for the design and manufacture <strong>of</strong> ammunition<br />

and he will conduct such investigations as may be called 'for by the<br />

chief ordnance <strong>of</strong>ficer. He will be provided with a full set <strong>of</strong> drawing<br />

equipment, Ideal drawing instruments, flexible curve and Universal<br />

curves and beam compass.<br />

651. The railway <strong>artillery</strong> maintenance <strong>of</strong>ficer is in charge <strong>of</strong> the<br />

special railway repair shop and handles all necessary repairs and<br />

general maintenance on all <strong>artillery</strong> and motor vehicles. He supervises<br />

the making <strong>of</strong> all modifications in artiller:y as specified by the<br />

chief ordnance <strong>of</strong>ficer or required by field emergencies. He is responsible<br />

for the maintenance <strong>of</strong> such records as enable him to keep<br />

the <strong>artillery</strong> armament <strong>of</strong>fic,er informed as to the condition and<br />

adequacy <strong>of</strong> all his facilities and the supply <strong>of</strong>ficer as to his needs for<br />

spare parts and raw materials. He is responsible for the making up<br />

<strong>of</strong> any necessary designs for emergency equipment or replacements.<br />

He shall maintain such records as will be <strong>of</strong> maximum assistance to<br />
