<strong>MCI</strong> 6241.2 Anchorage Loan: Athabaskan Garments<br />

<strong>MCI</strong> Staff: Mary W. Ballard, Elizabeth Shuster, Cathy Zaret, Michaela Sousa<br />

Due to an unexpected staff absence, the National Museum of the American Indian, requested the<br />

assistance of the <strong>MCI</strong> textile conservation interns in the preparation of garments for the loan and<br />

exhibition at the Anchorage Museum of History and Culture, Alaska. <strong>MCI</strong> textile interns worked<br />

on a group of objects associated with a Chipewyan’s man’s outfit, included tunic, hood,<br />

leggings/moccasins, and knife sheath; the treatment of a Kutchin or Loucheux child’s rabbit skin<br />

trousers with feet and matching hooded coat; and prepared an Ahtna moose skin coat.<br />
