Annual Ryegrass Toxicity (ARGT)<br />
The timely production of hay can reduce<br />
ARGT by:<br />
• removing ryegrass (and other hosts) prior to<br />
toxin formation;<br />
• interrupting the lifecycle of the causal agents;<br />
• reducing the ryegrass population.<br />

Pest and disease<br />
<strong>Hay</strong> production can offer another breakcrop<br />
opportunity, especially where continuous cropping<br />
is practiced. This may be due to the hay crop<br />
being a non host to a particular pest or disease,<br />
the hay making operation being destructive of<br />
the organism or its habitat, or the production of<br />
hay actually removing the organism from the<br />
