26.3.2. <strong>Air</strong>men with approved waivers must attend EPME (in the next higher grade) as<br />
soon as possible without negatively impacting the mission or member. <strong>Air</strong>men with<br />
approved waivers serving on remote tours or extended deployments, or attending lengthy<br />
formal training/retraining will attend EPME within 120 days of completing the remote<br />
tour, deployment, or training and NLT 60 days prior to subsequent re-deployment,<br />
training, or PCS.<br />
27. Non-resident/DL Programs. The purpose of EPME DL programs is to enhance an<br />
individual‘s professional development with challenging course study through distance learning<br />
courses appropriate to their grade and experience. The Barnes Center‘s, EPME, Academic<br />
Affairs is the OPR for all EPME DL courses. The AU A4/6 Catalog contains definitive guidance<br />
for DL courses and is located at: http://www.maxwell.af.mil/au/afiadl/.<br />

NOTE:<br />
1. TSgts must have completed NCOA and have 2 years Time in Grade to enroll.<br />
2. Completion of SEJPME DL course is highly recommended prior to assignment to joint duty<br />
billets. If not possible due to a short notice assignment, completion within 60 days of arrival is<br />
highly recommended.<br />
28. EPME Graduate Ribbon. Graduates from each level of resident EPME (including sister-<br />
Service senior-level academies) earn the <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> EPME Graduate Ribbon. An oak leaf cluster<br />
is added to the basic ribbon for completion of each additional resident level of EPME (i.e.,<br />
NCOA, SNCOA, and CLC). This is retroactive for completion of all resident EPME including<br />
the NCO Preparatory Course, NCO Leadership School, and the CLC.<br />
29. EPME Achievement Awards.<br />
29.1. EPME courses are authorized the following four mandatory awards. NOTE: The CLC<br />
and all DL courses do not have these awards.<br />
29.1.1. John L. Levitow Award is the highest honor and is presented to the top graduate<br />
of each class. Only one John L. Levitow Award is presented per class. Recipients of this<br />
award are excluded from both the Academic Achievement and Commandant/Leadership<br />
Award.
