17. Positioning – kick-in (mandatory) (5)<br />

During a kick-in close to <strong>the</strong> corner arc in favour <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> attacking team,<br />

<strong>the</strong> referee nearest to <strong>the</strong> place from where it is to be taken remains at an<br />

approximate distance <strong>of</strong> 5 m. From this position he checks that <strong>the</strong> kick-in is<br />

taken in accordance with <strong>the</strong> procedure and that <strong>the</strong> defenders have retreated<br />

5 m from <strong>the</strong> touch line. The referee fur<strong>the</strong>st from <strong>the</strong> place where <strong>the</strong> kick-in<br />

is to be taken takes a position behind <strong>the</strong> corner arc in line with <strong>the</strong> goal line.<br />

From this position he watches <strong>the</strong> ball and <strong>the</strong> behaviour <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> players.<br />
