LAW 3 – THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS<br />
Unauthorised departure from <strong>the</strong> pitch<br />
If a player leaves <strong>the</strong> pitch without <strong>the</strong> referees’ permission and for reasons not<br />
permitted in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Futsal</strong> <strong>Laws</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Game</strong>, <strong>the</strong> timekeeper or <strong>the</strong> third referee<br />
sounds <strong>the</strong> acoustic signal to inform <strong>the</strong> referees if <strong>the</strong> advantage cannot<br />
be applied. If it is necessary to stop play, <strong>the</strong> referees sanction <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fending<br />
player’s team with an indirect free kick from <strong>the</strong> position <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ball when<br />
<strong>the</strong> infringement was <strong>com</strong>mitted (see Law 13 – Position <strong>of</strong> free kick). If <strong>the</strong><br />
advantage is applied, <strong>the</strong>y must sound <strong>the</strong> acoustic signal at <strong>the</strong> next stoppage<br />
in play. The player is cautioned for deliberately leaving <strong>the</strong> pitch without <strong>the</strong><br />
referees’ permission.<br />
Minimum number <strong>of</strong> players<br />
Although a match may not start if ei<strong>the</strong>r team consists <strong>of</strong> fewer than three<br />
players, <strong>the</strong> minimum number <strong>of</strong> players, including players and substitutes,<br />
required for a match is left to <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> member associations.<br />
A match may not continue if <strong>the</strong>re are fewer than three players in ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
teams.<br />
If a team has fewer than three players because one or more players has<br />
deliberately left <strong>the</strong> pitch, <strong>the</strong> referees are not obliged to stop <strong>the</strong> match<br />
immediately and <strong>the</strong> advantage may be applied. In such cases, <strong>the</strong> referees<br />
must not restart <strong>the</strong> match after play has been stopped if a team does not have<br />
<strong>the</strong> minimum number <strong>of</strong> three players.
