30 Old Deeside Railway Line - Peterculter to Banchory and Aboyne to Ballater Sections The Deeside Way leaves Aberdeen along what is the bed of the old Deeside railway line some 16 miles to Banchory. For much of the way the route runs close to the River Dee. There is a gap between Banchory and Aboyne before a further section takes you along more of the renowned Deeside countryside between Aboyne and Ballater. The North Deeside Road is never very far away from the path and the excellent bus links between the towns on the route and city of Aberdeen.
