HOW TO CARE FOR THE HEART IN NATURE'S WAY<br />
Just as the sun is the fire element of nature, so is the heart the fire<br />
element of the human body. Of all the elements, the fire element is the<br />
most active. A sudden shock has a more noticeable effect upon the<br />
heart than upon any of the other organs, When the blood, the muscle<br />
of the valve of the heart, or the heart itself is inflamed or is overtaxed<br />
because of exertion or sudden fright the heart beats fast. Pain, leakage<br />
or rush of blood to the head may ensue. Physicians have termed the<br />
latter "high blood pressure." It is variously accompanied by gas, diz-<br />
ziness, sleeplessness, difficult breathing, paralytic stroke, etc.<br />

A cablegram to the press received<br />
from Shanghai in May, 1926, stated<br />
that the discrepancy between the per-<br />
centage of insane in China and in the<br />
United States was indeed great.<br />

though the population of China ap-<br />
proximates 450,000,000, the United<br />
States has 20 insane persons to every<br />
one in China.<br />
A telegram to the press from Wash-<br />
ington, D. C., dated Dec. 27, 1925, stat-<br />
ed that the investigations of the De-<br />
partment of Commerce had revealed<br />
that in 1924 twice as many persons in<br />
the United States had died from ail-<br />
ments of the heart as from all other<br />
diseases combined.<br />
A COMMON SOURCE<br />
The foregoing are statements of genuine facts. The explanation may<br />
be found in the fact that thousands of years ago the Chinese arrived at<br />
the conclusion that insanity is caused by inflammation of the heart,<br />
which condition affects the nerves leading to the brain; and that there-<br />
