The Shulamite Maiden
16 My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.
2:16 and I am his. The Doctrine of Eternal Security is not designed to produce careless living but
to have tremendous confidence of an abiding love that will never let a person go.
17 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou
like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether [division].
2:17 Bether (be'-thur; dissection, separation, cutting), refers to a mountain range named in the
Song of Solomon. It may be the same as the mountains of spice (Song of Solomon 8:14). The
Shulamite maiden pleads that the mountain of separation might be dissolved.
