healed. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge
shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the
remission of sins.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he
bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
In the death of Christ the law of double jeopardy is brought into view. This law states that a
man cannot be tried or punished twice for the same crime. Through His death Christ was
punished for the sins of the elect. By accepting him as Savior a sinner receives the
forgiveness that comes when a sin debt is paid. However, if a person must still eventually pay
for their own sin in hell because there was a fall from grace prior to death then the righteous
Judge of the universe becomes guilty of breaking the law of double jeopardy.
21. The believer is secure because of the resurrection of Christ.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that
like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of
his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we
should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with
Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised
from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he
died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through
the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being
dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with
him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his
cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly,
triumphing over them in it.
22. The believer is secure because of the present ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of
His own.
Christ serves as an advocate [defense attorney] in heaven on behalf of those who are to be the
heirs of salvation.
