Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Queensland Ltd 2012 Annual Report
It is a challenge to offer staff a mix of internal and external training opportunities,
always ensuring that investment in external training/workshops/conferences has a
significant and shared benefit for the organization. Requests for participation in
external events will be considered in a fair and consistent way, with a strategic eye on
their value to the individual, the team and organization.
Providing support for training and career development to staff in other Divisions as
they do their different, but equally important jobs is an ongoing challenge. Staff in
Corporate Services have participated in all of the mandatory training sessions offered,
and have demonstrated their real interest in understanding the business of service
delivery and the social contexts in which we operate.
Future directions
Our hope for the next year is to be able to give real meaning to the concept of a
Community of Practice at Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld. Our direction
is moving from a single program focus to a more integrated approach, capitalizing on
the co-existence and now co-location of a wide range of services for individuals and
families. In such a Community of Practice, members are collaborative, always
thinking of ways to bring people and ideas together. All kinds of resources,
knowledge and professional experience will be shared. A practical example of this will
be our Intranet Library project, capturing the spirit of collegial learning and support,
making the best of our individual collections of resources and research available to
colleagues. We are seeking a positive professional environment where people really
want to work, and the very best of service delivery to the communities of Darling
Downs and the South West.
