Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Queensland Ltd 2012 Annual Report Family Therapy Program 32 by Kath Corcoran, Senior Practitioner & Kate Greener, Manager State Funding The purpose of the Family Therapy Program is to provide counselling and other support services to assist vulnerable individuals who are at risk of, or who are experiencing personal, wellbeing and ability to participate positively in their community. This program offers generalist counselling, practical support, advocacy, referral and linkage to other services as required. This program is easily accessible and culturally appropriate. Service delivery may be provided through a variety of modes, including but not limited to face-to-face, telephone, physical service location, community meeting point, and outreach. The Team The membership of the team has remained constant over the last twelve months with only the addition of a new Senior Practitioner who started with the team in March 2012. Each team member works part-time and works with a collegiate approach to their framework, systems and processes. Senior Practitioner Kath Corcoran Counsellors Kim Coleman Andrew Nicholson Denny Edwards Rob Sandison Manager Kate Greener Achievements The Family Therapy Team has consistently sought to develop their skills and knowledge. During the year, the team has continued to reflect on their practice and refine process and procedures to ensure that service delivery to clients is of a high quality and delivered in a timely way. The Family Therapy Team has been using two scales in their client sessions to assist with therapy and also as an evaluation tool. -being and how things have been on entry to the session for example it measures personal wellbeing, family and close relationships, work, school and friendships and a general sense of well-being. The Session Rating Scale (SRS) completed by the client at the end of the session rates the union between the counselor and the client, for example it measures the therapeutic relationship, goals and topics covered, approach and method and overall outcome of the session. Paul Jensen is presenting a paper at the FRSA (Family Relationships Services ORS and SRS and looking at pre and post tests of individual clients. Below is an example of the outcomes of a client once the scores have been entered into the data system. This can then be used as a tool and shown to the client so they can see their progress or help identify times when their situation may not be going well. 31
