Past events
The HDDG Show in May was a success and
although cold there was a good turnout.
Monnington Drive was lovely as usual. Good
weather, 6 turnouts had a lovely drive
followed by tea. Thanks to John Bulmer and his
team for the warm welcome.
Westons Bluebell Drive. A disappointing
turnout but a lovely drive.
Future events
Trek practice day we are hoping to hold this in
early September.
We are lucky that Mandy Reddock has agreed
to join myself and Roy as AAC. I asked Mandy
to write a bit about herself which is included
below:
I have been involved with horses since I was
very young and went through Pony Club and
achieved my “A” Test Certificate. Did all sorts
of horsey activities including Riding Club,
Dressage, showjumping, and concentrated a
lot on Side Saddle, where I became National
Side Saddle Champion in 1985. I am now
married to Tony and have two children,

Emma (17) and Thomas (15). I started my
driving career in 2000 when I had a little
11.2hh Welsh Mountain pony called Toby
which Emma used to ride, I felt it would be
nice to drive him so I had some help from an
elderly chap called Gordon to help break him
in, within a week he was between the shafts
and we have never looked back. We had Toby
for about 5 years and had to sell him due
to Emma getting too big to ride him, so we
then bought Ben James a 14.2hh Welsh Cob
and we rode as well as drive him and during
his first year with us we won the Osborne
Championship for Exercise vehicles at Burghley
Horse Trials in 2005. Emma did a variety of
Pony club activities with him and competed
in Showjumping and Cross Country Teams
and also hunted him for two seasons with the
Radnor and West Pony Club. The family are
members of the Hereford and District Driving
Group and regularly attend different rallies
all over the county. We sold Ben James last
February 2008 as Emma was getting too big
to ride him and we felt it would be nice to
have a larger horse for Tony, Emma and I all to
ride. We found “Jasper” a 15.3hh Hackney x

AAC Mandy Reddock
Welsh Cob which belonged to Jim Ellesmore
who lives locally and is also a member of
the HDDG. He also owned Ben previous
to us buying him so we knew what a great
temperament the horse would have and how
he had been brought up by Jim. We bought
Jasper October 2008 and previous to that I had
been lucky enough to drive Jasper for Jim at a
few rallies. Since buying him we have broken
him in to ride and Tony, Emma and myself
took him to the HDDG Spring Show in May
at Hereford and we all won a class with him - a
day you dream about. I have been a member of
the BDS since I started driving and was asked
by Kay to join the Hereford BDS as AAC, I felt
I would love to give something back that my
family and I have had from the Association. As
the Reddock family have proved in the past we
have had some real family ponies/horses and
you can get the best out of them by riding and
driving.
