THE fish friers REVIEW 10 questions with: ...Craig Buckley As the winner of the 2011 Drywite/NFFF Young Fish Frier of the year, Craig Buckley is a familiar face to the industry. Having recently opened his second fish and chip venture, The Fish Bar at Sunnybank Road, in Crewe, we caught up with him to ask a few questions… 1. If you could choose any other job in the world what would it be? Have to be footballer – minimal hours, huge wages and girls on tap! 2. If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would buy? Difficult one, but probably a Ferrari 458 (pictured) then a new house. 3. What was the last text you sent? To a friend regarding my V tickets 52 4. What’s your favorite film? That would have to be the Shawshank Redemption 5. What’s the first record you bought? I couldn’t tell you, memory like a sieve. 6. How do you think your staff would describe you as a boss? Firm, fair and passionate… I hope. 7. What is your first memory of fish and chips? More memories, it used to be a ritual on a Thursday night in our family. 8. What’s the strangest order you’ve had in your shop? Chips, cheese, gravy, curry and mayo – just wrong! 9. Where do you see Fish and Chips in 20 years’ time? Prosperous, more professional, hopefully viewed by the public as a quality, value for money meal. Also with me in the history books as a fish and chip shop of the year winner! 10. Which do you prefer Cod or Haddock? Haddock. Issue 2 March/April 2012
