The Lord also makes it clear in this text
that we must learn to be faithful with worldly
goods before we can be entrusted with the
true riches of the kingdom. Learning to
properly handle unrighteous mammon
while maintaining a right spirit is important
for every Christian. We must learn to do this
now. Since the ultimate conflict between
the spirit of this world and the kingdom of
God will revolve around economics and the
ability “to buy or to sell” (see Revelation
13:17), this exhortation is even more
critical and timely.

If prosperity is your primary goal, then
you will serve the one who gives it to you.
Just as Satan promised Jesus, if you will bow
down to worship Satan, which is to live by his
ways, he will give you everything that God has
promised you (see Matthew 4:9). Jesus had
already been promised all of the kingdoms
of the world. Satan’s temptation was to take
the easy way, to seek to attain that promise
without going to the cross. Satan will promise
you everything that God wants to give you,
and he will also show you a quicker and easier
way to attain it. Satan is the present ruler of
this age, and he can do it.
Taking the mark of the beast is not the sin
that brings the judgment. The sin is to worship
the beast. The mark is simply evidence that
