The goal of the spirit of poverty is not
just to keep things from us, but to keep us
from the will of God. To do this, Satan may
even give us great riches, but our lives will
nevertheless be just as empty and full of
worries as if we were destitute.
The first step toward defeating the works
of darkness is to understand them. We must
then apply what God has said in relation to
them. Satan is called the prince of darkness
because darkness is his domain. His main
strategy is to keep us from seeing the light of
God’s Word. Therefore, whenever the light
church are called “the light of the world”
(see John 8:12; Matthew 5:14). Jesus
came to “destroy the works of the devil”
(see I John 3:8), and He did this by shining
light into the darkness. When we walk in
the light as He did, we will also destroy the
enemy’s works.
The Lord has given us divinely powerful
weapons for the destruction of strongholds
(see II Corinthians 10:4). Strongholds are
