1/16m) winner Beholder (Henny Hughes) heads a<br />

field of six in Saturday’s $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks<br />

(Gr 1, 1 1/16m). Beholder is looking to add her third<br />

Grade One to her record after scoring an impressive<br />

last start victory in the Las Virgenes Stakes (Gr 1,<br />

1m) on 2 March. Henny Hughes (Hennessy) shuttles<br />

to Rangeview Stud in WA where he stood for a fee of<br />

pRIx djeBel To STyle vendome<br />

Style Vendome (3 c Anabaa - Place Vendome by Dr<br />

Fong) made it three stakes wins in a row when taking<br />

out the Prix Djebel (Gr 3, 1400m) at Maisons-Laffitte<br />

on Thursday. He defeated the Wertheimer’s home bred<br />

Snowday (Falco) by two and a half lengths and is now<br />

a likely contender for the Poule d’Essai des Poulains<br />

(French 2000 Guineas) (Gr 1, 1600m). Later on the<br />

card the talented filly What A Name (3 f Mr Greeley<br />

- Bonnie Byerly by Dayjur) scored a narrow victory in<br />

the Prix Imprudence (Gr 3, 1400m) over Holy Dazzle<br />

(Sunday Break).<br />

RoSe In Foal To ChoICe<br />

The Group One winner Alpine Rose (Linamix) has been<br />

confirmed in foal to Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) who<br />

has shuttled to the Northern hemisphere for the first<br />

time this season. Alpine Rose’s colt by Sea The Stars<br />

(Cape Cross) topped last year’s Arqana Deauville<br />

August Yearling Sale when selling for €1.2million<br />

($1.475million) to Mandore International on behalf of<br />

Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.<br />

Grace Lady (4f Muhtathir - Parcelle De Sou by Ajdayt)<br />

was the half length winner of the Prix Jacques Laffitte<br />

(Listed, 1800m) at Maisons-Laffitte, beating Tagar<br />

Bere (High Yield), with the favourite Mainsail (Oasis<br />

Dream) third also on yesterday’s card. Grace Lady<br />

was the 11th stakes winner for Haras du Mezeray’s<br />

Muhtathir (Elmaamul).<br />
