Natural Resource Conservation Service’s PLANTS database (USDA 2004).<br />
2.3.3 Voucher Processing<br />
Vouchers were permanently mounted on st<strong>and</strong>ard 11 ½” X 16 ½ “ archival quality, acid free,<br />
herbarium paper along with a printed label containing <strong>the</strong> following information: family name, scientific<br />
name, authority(ies), physical location, site number, latitude <strong>and</strong> longitude data, horizontal error, associated<br />
taxa, collector name(s), collection number, any special notes, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> collection. In keeping with<br />
<strong>NPS</strong> databasing protocol, a habitat type was assigned to each location using <strong>the</strong> National Vegetation<br />
Classification System developed by <strong>the</strong> Nature Conservancy (2005).<br />
The existence <strong>of</strong> endangered or threatened taxa encountered along <strong>the</strong> Parkway was “recorded”<br />
using a digital photograph, to be used as <strong>the</strong> voucher for <strong>the</strong> specimen. Pertinent location information was<br />
also recorded as described above.<br />
