Acacia binervia Quadrat<br />

<strong>Ryde</strong> Flora <strong>and</strong> Fauna Survey <strong>2007</strong> 127<br />
This quadrat is located just above Terrys Creek on a southwest-facing slope. It is<br />
representative <strong>of</strong> Map Unit 33: Western S<strong>and</strong>stone Gully Forest but falls short by two<br />
positive diagnostic species to achieve a 95% confidence interval (51 native species <strong>of</strong><br />
the required 39; 25 positive diagnostic species <strong>of</strong> the required 27). The dominant<br />
species are Eucalyptus piperita with an understory <strong>of</strong> Angophora costata <strong>and</strong> Acacia<br />
binervia with Syncarpia glomulifera closer to the creek. Within the quadrat is<br />
Lasiopetalum parviflorum, considered rare in the <strong>Ryde</strong> district. It is possible that this<br />
site has previously been used for farming or a residence due to the presence <strong>of</strong> an old<br />
Radiata Pine <strong>and</strong> Banana. The weeds are located in the nutrient rich soil closer to the<br />
creek.<br />
