5.5 Comparison <strong>of</strong> the Autumn <strong>and</strong> Spring Survey Results<br />
The detection rate <strong>of</strong> species increased in the spring survey period, particularly for<br />
birds as a number <strong>of</strong> summer migrants are detected in the reserves. All reserves<br />
showed an increase in species detected in the spring (Table 30). Bats <strong>and</strong> some<br />
reptiles were conspicuously absent in the autumn survey.<br />

5.6 Threatened Animal Species<br />
One animal species listed under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 were<br />
detected during the study; namely:<br />
Powerful Owl Ninox strenua<br />
Powerful Owls were found in Pembroke Park <strong>and</strong> Lucknow Park. There was no<br />
indication <strong>of</strong> a permanent roosting site in either <strong>of</strong> these parks.
