It is 160,000 hectares and is bordered to the north by the Richtersveld National Park, to the east by the Helskloof (Nababiep) Provincial Nature Reserve and to the south by the Richtersveld Communal Grazing Area. On its northeast border lies the Orange River which serves as the border with Namibia.
