With buzzworthy restaurants on almost every block, Saskatoon’s<br />

downtown has become a favoured destination for discerning diners.<br />

“It’s probably the most eclectic range of dining experiences that<br />

you could possibly want to have - from Asian fusion to American/<br />

Canadian, to Afghan and East Indian. Just about any kind of food you<br />

possibly want to have, you can enjoy in downtown Saskatoon,” says<br />

Terry Scadden, executive director of The Partnership, Saskatoon’s<br />

Downtown Business Improvement District.<br />

Scadden says restaurateurs are attracted to the downtown core<br />

because it’s where the largest number of workers in the city are<br />

concentrated. “Between 22,000 and 24,000 people work downtown.<br />

That’s a pretty good group of people to serve at lunch and after work.”<br />

Saskatoon’s downtown is unique in offering an exciting mix of<br />

both independent, locally-owned eateries as well as restaurants that<br />

are part of national chains. “Downtown has proven to be an area<br />

where individuals who are entrepreneurial and want to run their own<br />
