Photo: Tourism Saskatoon The Mix Artists’ Collective Gallery is housed in a charming character house in downtown Saskatoon, at 539 24th Street East, just behind Knox United Church. The gallery features works by local artists and, as a collective, makes connections with writers, musicians, actors and other members of the arts community. Other outstanding Saskatoon galleries include the nationally acclaimed Mendel Art Gallery and Civic Conservatory, Handmade House, Glenn Scrimshaw Gallery, Collectors’ Choice Art Gallery, Clay Studio Three Pottery Studio and the Darrell Bell Gallery. FAMILY FUN This year, one of Saskatoon’s favourite family attractions - the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo - marks a special anniversary. The Forestry Farm got its start 100 years ago as the Sutherland Forest Nursery Station, and over the years, distributed 147 million trees to prairie farmers. Centennial celebrations will take place Sunday, May 26, offering a full afternoon of old-fashioned fun including entertainment, wagon rides, games and historical demonstrations. “The Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo is definitely one of the city’s key family attractions. It’s the only CAZA-accredited zoo in Saskatchewan,” says Demoskoff. “We consider ourselves very fortunate to have such a great facility in Saskatoon that attracts families from across the province.” A new family attraction in Saskatoon is The Prairie Lily, the doubledecked river boat launched last June by Shearwater River Cruises. The Prairie Lily can accommodate 119 passengers, rain or shine, on the canopied upper deck and enclosed climate-controlled lower quarters. The Prairie Lily offers one-hour sightseeing cruises twice a day, along with delicious dinner cruises on Friday and Saturday evenings, and a Sunday brunch cruise. “The Prairie Lily showcases the city in such a unique way.
