Connecting the Instrument to Your PC Chapter 2: Installation and Setup

Using narrow pliers, pull the fuse assembly out of the housing.
Change or add the correct fuses as necessary, referring to Figure 6. Refer
to the instrument rear panel for the correct fuse electrical current rating.
Insert the fuse assembly in the housing, with the side of the assembly
that carries the fuse(s) for your desired fusing arrangement facing into
the housing. Press the fuse assembly firmly into the housing.
Confirm that the line voltage selection is correct for your mains voltage
and your fusing arrangement.
Once you have verified that the line voltage selection is correct, connect the
power cord from a mains power outlet to the power cord connector on the instrument
rear panel.
Connecting the Instrument to Your PC
Before connecting the 2700 series instrument to your PC, install the
AP2700 control software. See page 6 for details.
The control software communicates with the 2700 series instrument through
the Audio Precision Interface Bus (APIB). We offer three options for the APIB
interface:

The PCI card. Most newer PCs use the PCI bus exclusively; many PCs
have a mix of both ISA and PCI bus slots available.
The ISA card. Older PCs use the ISA bus exclusively.
The PCMCIA card. This card allows you to use an existing PCMCIA interface
found in many notebook computers.
Your system was shipped with an APIB interface cable and with the interface
option you ordered. Refer to the appropriate section for your interface below.
The APSI interface is only used with for the OPT-2711 Dolby*
Digital Generator option, and is only functional with the
installation of that option and the licensed activation of the
software components. Instructions for use of APSI are
included with the OPT-2711 Dolby Digital Generator option.
