POINTS TO CONSIDER BEFORE OBTAINING A
NEW VEHICLE
The VEMA annual ordering process is also a good time to review your fl eet, your
budget and your overall transportation needs. VEMA recommends that you consider
the following points before placing your order.
1. Examine your current fleet and transportation arrangements
What vehicles do you currently have? What condition are they in? What are
the current costs for Rent (long-term and daily) and operation (Variable rates,
Fuel, deductibles, insurance, Direct Invoices)? What are the projected costs
(operating and Rent)? Which vehicles should be replaced based on either
costs or condition? What is each vehicle’s current arrangement (i.e. owned,
leased, rented, personal kilometrers)? What are the opportunities to alter these
arrangements if needed? Can rotation of existing vehicles maximize use?
