<strong>The</strong> most common ailments that inmates are<br />
afflicted with are rashes, boils, mental disorder,<br />
cough, <strong>and</strong> colds. Almost all inmates have experienced<br />
two or three of <strong>the</strong>se illnesses at one time<br />
or ano<strong>the</strong>r. More than half of <strong>the</strong> inmates suffer<br />
from rashes <strong>and</strong> boils because of poor ventilation<br />
<strong>and</strong> lack of water. Some inmates take a bath only<br />
once a week.<br />
Mental disease is increasingly a serious concern<br />
among inmates. Some inmates claim that <strong>the</strong>y hear<br />
voices inside <strong>the</strong>ir head (may bumubulong), o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />
just burst into a fit of laughter without being aware<br />
of it. Medical coordinators suspect that <strong>the</strong>se might<br />
be due to boredom (buryong) <strong>and</strong> depression.<br />
Buryong is a <strong>for</strong>m of psychological <strong>and</strong> mental<br />
affliction that most inmates dread. It generally<br />
translates to hopelessness, paranoia, <strong>and</strong> extreme<br />
Extreme boredom causes mental illness <strong>and</strong><br />
depression among inmates.<br />
