orbicular-ovoid, compressed, with blunt margins, obscurely<br />
grooved, quite smooth and even, not contracted into a neck;<br />
spathes narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, brown, equalling<br />
the pseudo-bulb. Leaves two from each pseudo-bulb, five<br />
to seven inches long by one half an inch broad, obtuse,<br />
keeled, narrowed at the base, deep green, midrib yellowish.<br />
Scapes from the base of the pseudo-bulb, much shorter than<br />
the leaves, one-flowered, with four to six green subacute<br />
sheathing bracts, the lower of which are imbricate ; the<br />
uppermost is three-quarters of an inch long, rather inflated,<br />
obtuse, almost as long as the ovary. Flowers about one and<br />
a quarter inch broad, pale golden-yellow within, with a<br />
purple median stripe towards the base of the petals, paler<br />
without. Sepals incurved, dorsal arching, linear-oblong,<br />
subacute ; lateral more lanceolate, much broader at the base,<br />
somewhat deflexed. Petals shorter than the sepals, ascend-<br />
ing and incurved, their tips meeting under the dorsal sepal,<br />
narrowly linear-oblong, subacute. Lip rather shorter than<br />
the petals, three-lobed, claw short, sharply incurved ; lateral<br />
lobes ear-shaped, erect, margins incurved, yellow streaked<br />
with purple ; mid-lobe larger, orbicular-oblong, tip rounded,<br />
nearly flat, with a tubercular callus at the base, pale golden-<br />
yellow. Column slender, purple. Pollen-masses two,<br />
ellipsoid, each furrowed in front; caudicle short, small,<br />
subglobose ; gland ragged.•J. D. H.<br />
