Clover Street, Chatham (run by the Dean and Chapter of Rochester), now closed.<br />

<strong>The</strong> records of the Dean and Chapter of Rochester, also held at this centre, including their<br />

minutes, DRC/AC may mention this facility (Kelly's Direc<strong>to</strong>ry 1936).<br />

Other organisations or hospitals include:-<br />

Royal Naval Hospitals at Haslar, Gosport, Hants (Current) **<br />

S<strong>to</strong>nehouse, Plymouth, Devon (closed 1995) and Chatham (closed 1961).<br />

Almshouses possibly serving roughly similar purposes <strong>to</strong> Hawkins' Hospital include London<br />

Trinity Almshouses, Mile End Road, Tower Hamlets, London; Trinity Hospital, London<br />

administered by the Mercers' Company; and the Dreadnought Seamen's Hospital at the Old<br />

Infirmary, Greenwich.<br />

Oppenheim (p.323) also makes mention of "Ely Place" and the "Savoy Hospital" as caring for the<br />

sick and maimed at the time of the Commonwealth.<br />

** Haslar will become the tri-service Royal Hospital, Haslar in about 1996.<br />
