1909 Karl SCHWARZSCHILD (1873-1916) new director of the AOP. • Founder of the modern photometric theory • Co-founder of the modern theory of stellar and comet atmospheres (→ radiation and energy transport) • Provided the first exact metric solution of Einstein´s gravitation equations • In 1914 first (unsuccessful) measurements from the tower of A26 aimed at proving the relativistic red-shift of solar spectral lines.
