NAME<br />

free - recover files from a backup tape<br />

SYNOPSIS<br />

/ ete/ free [-ppath] [-freqfile] raw-tape inumber: name ...<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

free recovers the files identified by inumber from the specified<br />

raw-tape. This is a backup tape written by voleopy(lM) or<br />

f ine(<strong>1M</strong>). The data for each recovery request is written into the<br />

name file.<br />

If any directories are missing in the paths of recovery names they<br />

will be created.<br />

-freqfile specify a file containing recovery requests. The format<br />

is<br />

inumber:name<br />

with one request per line.<br />

-ppath specify a path for names not beginning with / or . / .<br />

The default pathname is your current working directory.<br />

EXAMPLE<br />

free /dev/rmt/Om 1216:junk<br />

recovers a file, with inumber 1216, into the file junk in your<br />

current working directory.<br />

free -p /usr/sre/emd /dev/rmt m 14156:a 1232:b<br />

3141:/usr/joe/a.e<br />

recovers files with inumbers 14156, 1232, <strong>and</strong> 3141 into files:<br />

BUGS<br />

While creating the intermediate directories contained in a pathname,<br />

free can only recover inode fields for those directories<br />

contained on the tape <strong>and</strong> requested for recovery.<br />
