t zic - time zone compiler<br />

SYNOPSIS<br />

tzic [-v] [-d directory] [-1 localtime] [-p posixrules]<br />

[-L leapsecondfilename] [-3] [filename ... ]<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

t zic reads text from the file(s) named on the comm<strong>and</strong> line <strong>and</strong><br />

creates the time-conversion information files specified in this input.<br />

If a filename is -, the st<strong>and</strong>ard input is read.<br />

t z i c interprets the following flag options:<br />

-v Complain if a year that appears in a data file is outside the<br />

range of years representable by time(2) values.<br />

-d directory<br />

Create time conversion information files in the named directory<br />

rather than in the st<strong>and</strong>ard directory named below.<br />

-p timezone<br />

Use the rules of the given time zone when h<strong>and</strong>ling POSIXfonnat<br />

time zone environment variables. t z i c acts as if the<br />

file contained a link line of the form<br />

-1 local time<br />

Use the given time zone as local time. tzic acts as if the<br />

file contained a link line of the form<br />

Link timezone local time<br />

- L leapsecondfilename<br />

Read leap-second information from the file with the given<br />

name. If this option is not used, no leap-second information<br />

appears in output files.<br />

- 3 Limit time values stored in ouput files to values that are the<br />

same whether they are taken to be signed or unisgned. You<br />

can use this option to generate files compatible with the <strong>System</strong><br />

V file system (SVFS).<br />

Input lines are made up of fields. Fields are separated from one<br />

another by any number of space characters. Leading <strong>and</strong> trailing<br />

spaces on input lines are ignored. An unquoted number sign character<br />

(=11=) in the input introduces a comment which extends to the<br />

end of the line the number sign character appears on. Space char-<br />
