SYNOPSIS<br />

set time zone<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

settimezone provides a simple, menu-based method for setting<br />

the local time zone. Changes take effect the next time you<br />

log in. You must be superuser to run this comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

The N<strong>UX®</strong> system clock maintains Greenwich mean time (also<br />

know as Universal Coordinated Time). Application programs use<br />

time-zone information files to calculate the local time <strong>and</strong>, therefore,<br />

the system must know the local time zone. In order to obtain<br />

the correct local time, set timezone links the proper time zone<br />

information file to /etc/zoneinfo/localtime <strong>and</strong> changes<br />

the contents of the file /etc/TIMEZONE that is used to set the<br />

T Z environment variable.<br />
