This information should be easily accessible by the public on the Board of Oil and Gas's website. The chemical content of fracking fluids need to be disclosed in advance in order for potentially affected landowners to obtain baseline water testing. All landowners with water wells and springs within a one mile radius of the proposed well to be fracked must received written notice of he planned chemicals to be used. Our state relies heavily on healthy water - drinking water for communities, clean water for livestock grazing, and healthy rivers for fish, anglers, and boaters. As of yet, it is still unclear what fracking is and how it will affect water supplies. Before the state moves forward with any fracking, please ensure that the chemical information will be easily accessible by the public and that all chemicals will be disclosed in advance of any fracking. Please ensure that there are opportunities for baseline water testing before any fracking begins. Companies applying for the privilege of using Montana's resources need to respect our water quality, and the state should only grant exceptions for any trade secret exemptions in extremely rare circumstances.
