Western Civilization<br />

When reading history, keep in mind these three maxims:<br />

• History is bunk. (Henry Ford)<br />

• History does not repeat itself; it rhymes. (Mark<br />

Twain)<br />

• History is written by the victors. (Now, you know<br />

why.)<br />

There was a cartoon several years ago (I <strong>for</strong>get where I<br />

saw it) in which a team of archaeologists (in the future)<br />

find a buried office floor (from the present) filled with<br />

cubicles and computers. They come to the conclusion that<br />

it “looks like an underground prison complex.” The cartoon<br />

typifies the incredulous stupidity with which historians see<br />

the past. Maybe it is deliberate.<br />

Western historians theorise that Aryans were Europeans<br />

who had settled in India. Indians find this theory<br />

preposterous and counter-claim that Westerners were still<br />

swinging from tree branches like monkeys millennia after<br />

Indian subcontinent became a flourishing civilization.<br />

After reading a lot of books and making my own<br />
