The text is prepared by businesses and given to legal departments of the government or directly to people's representatives. These corporate-sponsored laws are deliberately made voluminous for: 1. Hiding loopholes that only big businesses can comfortably exploit. For example, many big corporations pay no income tax.* 2. Preventing ordinary people from understanding the laws on their own. Ignorance of the law is not a viable legal defence. 3. Preventing ordinary citizens and small independent firms from competing with big businesses, thereby preserving the latter's monopoly status. Small firms will waste their limited resources on unnecessary legal requirements and thereby lose their value-formoney advantage.
