Cary Conklin, who serves as <strong>the</strong> team’s We<strong>st</strong> Coa<strong>st</strong> regional scout,<br />

brings both scouting and coaching experience to <strong>the</strong> team’s player<br />

personnel department. From 2006-08, Conklin was a scout for <strong>the</strong> St.<br />

Louis Rams and was a scout for <strong>the</strong> Washington Redskins in 2003. As<br />

a coach, Conklin coached quarterbacks at Ea<strong>st</strong>ern Michigan from 2000-<br />

01 and was <strong>the</strong> wide receivers coach at <strong>the</strong> University of Washington<br />

in 1998. He began his coaching career at Washington where he was<br />

a <strong>st</strong>udent assi<strong>st</strong>ant and worked with quarterbacks from 1996-98.<br />

In 1990, Conklin was a fourth-round pick at quarterback by <strong>the</strong><br />

Washington Redskins in <strong>the</strong> NFL Dra . He played for <strong>the</strong> Redskins<br />

from 1990-94 and with <strong>the</strong> San Francisco 49ers in 1995. Conklin was a<br />

teammate of Mayhew with <strong>the</strong> Redskins during <strong>the</strong> 1990-92 <strong>season</strong>s.<br />

In college, Conklin set numerous passing records for <strong>the</strong><br />

Washington Huskies. He was recruited to play for <strong>the</strong> Huskies<br />

a er being named Washington’s Gatorade Player of <strong>the</strong> Year while<br />

attending Eisenhower High School in Yakima, Wash.<br />

Conklin is married to wife, Demetra, and has two daughters,<br />

Cosette and Violet, and a son, Canon.<br />

Chad Henry, one of <strong>the</strong> team’s regional scouts who evaluates<br />

college talent throughout <strong>the</strong> year, enters his 15th year working fulltime<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Lions’ player personnel department and 16th year overall<br />

in <strong>the</strong> organization. He originally served as <strong>the</strong> team’s BLESTO scout<br />

before being promoted to area scout in 2000.<br />

Henry possesses a variety of experience, both in coaching and<br />

scouting at all levels of football. Before being hired full-time in 1998,<br />

he spent a year as an intern in <strong>the</strong> Lions’ personnel department and<br />

assi<strong>st</strong>ed in numerous capacities in both college and pro scouting. He<br />

also served as a personnel and coaching <strong>st</strong>aff assi<strong>st</strong>ant for <strong>the</strong> San<br />

Diego Chargers during training camp in 1996. Among Henry’s coaching<br />

<strong>st</strong>ops were at his alma mater, Indiana (Pa.) Area Senior High School in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Fall of ‘97, and as a schola<strong>st</strong>ic level summer league baseball coach<br />

in 1996-97. He is also active with <strong>the</strong> we<strong>st</strong>ern PA-based charitable<br />

organization The Homeboys Foundation, including coaching at <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

annual free football camp for youth ages 6-18.<br />

Although side eff ects from a bout with cancer during high school<br />

ended Henry’s playing career prematurely, he continued in football<br />

as a <strong>st</strong>udent assi<strong>st</strong>ant at Penn State from 1991-93. He was also an<br />

undergraduate assi<strong>st</strong>ant coach and recruiting assi<strong>st</strong>ant at Indiana<br />

University of Pennsylvania <strong>up</strong>on transferring <strong>the</strong>re in <strong>the</strong> spring<br />

of 1994.<br />

In May 1996, Henry received his bachelor degree from Indiana<br />

University of Pennsylvania in English. He completed his ma<strong>st</strong>er’s work<br />

in labor and indu<strong>st</strong>rial relations from <strong>the</strong> same school in May 1998.<br />

Henry, and his wife, Holly, reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. They have three<br />

children: Leah , Madeline, and Trent. Henry’s fa<strong>the</strong>r, Jack, coached<br />

<strong>the</strong> Lions’ off ensive line from 1997-99, and retired in 2009 a er a 40<br />

year coaching career.<br />

Joe Kelleher joined <strong>the</strong> Lions in June, 2011 and enters his second<br />

<strong>season</strong> with <strong>the</strong> team. He serves as <strong>the</strong> team’s BLESTO scout.<br />

Kelleher joined <strong>the</strong> Lions’ Player Personnel Department having<br />

worked mo<strong>st</strong> recently as a scouting assi<strong>st</strong>ant for National Football<br />

Scouting and <strong>the</strong> National Invitational Camp (NFL Combine). A er<br />

his hiring by National Football Scouting in November 2009, Kelleher<br />

assi<strong>st</strong>ed in several aspects of <strong>the</strong> organization’s operations, including<br />

<strong>the</strong> review of scouting reports, overseeing daily management of <strong>the</strong><br />

NFL Medical Database website and assi<strong>st</strong>ing in <strong>the</strong> preparation and<br />

operations of <strong>the</strong> NFL Combine held annually in Indianapolis.<br />

Earlier that year, Kelleher served a six-month internship as a<br />

scouting intern for BLESTO Scouting.<br />

In 2008, Kelleher interned for <strong>the</strong> Lions Football Operations<br />

Department, and he assi<strong>st</strong>ed with <strong>the</strong> team’s training camp logi<strong>st</strong>ics,<br />

team travel and o<strong>the</strong>r aspects of <strong>the</strong> team’s day-to-day football<br />

operations. He previously interned with <strong>the</strong> New York Giants Pro<br />

Personnel Department during training camp in 2007.<br />

Kelleher attended Butler University and played off ensive tackle<br />

and tight end for <strong>the</strong> Bulldogs football team. Kelleher graduated from<br />

Butler with a bachelor’s degree in business-marketing. He went on to<br />

earn a ma<strong>st</strong>er’s of business admini<strong>st</strong>ration and a ma<strong>st</strong>er’s of sports<br />

admini<strong>st</strong>ration from Ohio University.<br />

Kelleher is a native of Potomac, Maryland and currently resides<br />

in Indianapolis, Indiana.<br />

Regional Scout<br />

Rob Lohman enters his sixth <strong>season</strong> with <strong>the</strong> Lions. He serves<br />

as <strong>the</strong> team’s college scouting coordinator, handling various<br />

admini<strong>st</strong>rative duties within <strong>the</strong> college scouting department, and<br />

is also a regional scout.<br />

He originally joined <strong>the</strong> player personnel <strong>st</strong>aff in May 2007 and<br />

had a variety of responsibilities in both college and pro scouting,<br />

including serving as <strong>the</strong> team’s advance scout during his fi r<strong>st</strong> <strong>season</strong>.<br />

Previously, Lohman spent six years with <strong>the</strong> Hou<strong>st</strong>on Texans, and<br />

was a member of <strong>the</strong> organization before it began play in <strong>the</strong> NFL in<br />

2002. From 2004-06, he served as <strong>the</strong> team’s nor<strong>the</strong>a<strong>st</strong> regional scout,<br />

and was <strong>the</strong> team’s pro admini<strong>st</strong>rator from 2002-03. Additionally in<br />

2003, he handled all <strong>the</strong> team advance scouting duties. Lohman joined<br />

<strong>the</strong> Texans in 2001 as a scouting intern.<br />

Before entering <strong>the</strong> NFL ranks in 2001, he was a graduate<br />

assi<strong>st</strong>ant at Syracuse University, where he earned his ma<strong>st</strong>er’s degree<br />

in higher education.<br />

In 1998, Lohman was a special teams and recruiting assi<strong>st</strong>ant<br />

at Hof<strong>st</strong>ra.<br />

Lohman graduated from <strong>the</strong> University of South Carolina, where<br />

he earned a bachelor degree in sports management and worked with<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gamecock’s football program as an undergraduate recruiting<br />

assi<strong>st</strong>ant. He and his wife, Mari, have a son, Brenden.
