• Exclusive breast-feeding of children (age 6.35 months) is 62.4% (DLHS-3) as against National average of 24.9%
• The percentage of children with diarrhea who receive ORS is 53.1% in the State as compared to the National Average of 33.7% (DLHS-3).
• 8. The State has not had any case of Wild Polio Virus since November 2006.
Areas for further Improvement:
• The institutional framework of NRHM needs to be strengthened.
o The SHM needs to meet more regularly and RKSs need to be empowered to utilize the local funds
• Quality of services need to be enhanced.
o At many places, inspite of availability of necessary infrastructure, equipments and HR, commensurate services are not available. This can be
rapidly remedied with better supervision.
o Technical supervision by supervising cadres needs to be improved and standard operating procedures strengthened
o Systems for facility level monitoring and supervision needed.
o Family Planning Services (especially NSV) need improvements.
• Utilization of available manpower need to be improved.
o Optimal positioning, ensuring strict supervision and logical mixing of available skills is needed in the state
Special action is required in remote areas.
o Being a hill state there are several un served, remote areas which need special planning and supervision.
Systematic plan for upgradation of Health Infrastructure
o As hoc upgradation of infrastructure should be avoided and parallel processing for equipments and HR may be undertaken. Synergy may be
ensured with the plans under PMSSY and other proposals for upgradation of Infrastructure. All agencies associated with this work need to be
aligned together.
o Residential accommodation needs to be improved and service providers located at the respective facility
Others issues
o There are many remote inaccessible areas which needs focused attention to provide health care to the people residing in such areas. The State
Government has been requested to identify difficult, most difficult, and inaccessible areas and shortage of medical officers, specialists and
para-medical staff in difficult and inaccessible areas. Special incentives are contemplated to encourage health personnel to work in these
areas. Upgradation of infrastructure and provision of accommodation facilities are also necessary in these localities.
