Pediatric Epilepsy: Effect of Treatment on Healthcare Utilization
Healthcare utilization improved significantly from the initial visit to the last follow-up. This was determined based on
a reduction in the number of hospitalizations in the three months preceding the visit, which decreased from a mean
of 0.41 hospitalizations over three months (± 0.07) at initial visit to a mean of 0.11 (± 0.01) at last visit (P = 0.0034).
This represents an approximately 75 percent reduction in frequency of hospitalization. N = pediatric patients with greater
than three months of follow-up. Mean duration of follow-up was 10.5 months.
