Preface Forord The aim of NOMESCO is partly to establish a basis for comparable medical statistics in the Nordic countries, partly to initiate development projects of relevance to medical statistics as well as follow international trends in questions of medical statistics. NOMESCO is a permanent committee under the Nordic Council of Ministers, placed under the jurisdiction of the Nordic Committee for Social Policy. In this publication NOMESCO presents the latest available data from the health statistics of the Nordic countries. Insofar as the tables include statistical indicators for the aims of the WHO programme “Health for All 2000” (HFA), this will be indicated in the tables. The tables concerning cancer incidence, eating habits and the consumption of pharmaceutical products have been prepared in collaboration with other Nordic working groups. Section B presents the main results from the NOMESCO study concerning registration practise of the causes of death in the Nordic Countries. Nordic Medico-Statistical Committee (NOMESCO) PREFACE Målsætningen for NOMESKO er dels at skabe grundlag for sammenlignelig medicinalstatistik i de nordiske lande, dels at tage initiativ til udviklingsprojekter med medicinalstatistisk relevans og endelig at følge den internationale udvikling i medicinalstatistiske spørgsmål. NOMESKO er en permanent komité under Nordisk Ministerråd og er underlagt Nordisk Socialpolitisk Komités ansvarsområde. I denne publikation offentliggør NO- MESKO de senest tilgængelige data fra de nordiske landes sundhedsstatistik. Såfremt tabellerne indeholder data om statistiske indikatorer fra WHO’s program “Sundhed for alle år 2000”, fremgår dette af de enkelte tabeller. Tabellerne vedrørende cancerincidens, kostvaner og medicinforbrug er udarbejdet i samarbejde med andre nordiske arbejdsgrupper.
